If being the sole occupant of an idyllic Scottish island is your dream job you're not alone. It's probably no surprise to learn that looking after an island is consistently one of the most popular dream jobs out there.
Therefore, a role recently advertised by specialist recruiter Greycoat Lumley's, is sure to generate a lot of interest. The job involves being the caretaker, handyperson and general all-round problem solver on historic Inchcolm Island in the Firth of Forth, Scotland. Just a short boat ride from the mainland, you will be comfortingly close to civilisation yet still very much detached from the hustle and bustle of modern life. Although small, the island has various points of interest including numerous wartime fortifications and a 12th century Abbey with bell tower.
The successful applicant will be the sole permanent occupant of this wonderful island – both living and working here in return for a £25k salary and free accommodation. A steady stream of visitors take day trips to the island so you won't be totally isolated but will of course have your own private island at the end of every working day.
In order to apply for this wonderful opportunity, candidates will require a 'can-do' attitude and some knowledge of the natural environment. As the role involves some general maintenance and upkeep of the island's buildings, any experience in this field is of value. To find out more about this dream job, click here.
