Dream Job Vacancy – Train Driver in Scotland!

A dream job you didn't know was for you, until you found it here and realised just how cool it is!!

That's right, the latest dream job vacancy on this, the dream jobs website, involves learning to drive a train amidst the spectacular scenery of the west coast of Scotland.  The role of trainee (unavoidable pun) train driver is open to those without experience and there are no specific qualifications required.  Your employer, Scotrail, simply requires that 'you’re keen to learn, can stay calm under pressure and will always maintain the highest levels of safety'.

If that's you, there's a chance you could land this coveted role and find yourself on a 18-24 month salaried training programme with the prospect of a secure, long-term career ahead of you – all whilst surrounded by some of Europe's most breathtaking and unspoilt scenery.

The role is based in Fort William, a small town with 10,000 inhabitants on the shores of Loch Linnhe.  Located just west of Scotland's highest mountain Ben Nevis, the town is a great base for exploring the Scottish Highlands and is approximatley one hour to Oban – the departure point for a number of ferries to the islands off the west coast of Scotland.

Scotrail have ambitions to be a carbon-free railway by 2035 and, with 5,000 employees, you'll be joining a large team proud to provide an essential service to the local community.

A dream job with an attractive salary

If all of this adds up to the dream job for you, the only thing you'll be wondering is whether there's also an attractive salary on offer. Well, we're happy to confirm the following salary details – as documented in Scotrail's job advertisement.

Trainee: £32,968 per annum

Newly Qualified Driver: £45,828 per annum

Newly Qualified Driver (6 months): £48,944 per annum
