The dream job for anyone with a sweet tooth, Mondelez Int (owner of Cadburys, Oreos etc) are recruiting for not one but four roles of Chocolate Taster (yes, chocolate taster) in Reading, England.
Working as part of a team of 12, your remit will be to taste chocolate and chocolate spread products to improve and perfect new Mondelez chocolate products before they hit the shelves around the world.
Once you've tasted said chocolate products, you will need to accurately communicate your views on the flavour, texture etc so that [eventually] us mere mortals are presented with the ultimate chocolate choices when we go shopping.
If you're thinking, 'wow, I LOVE chocolate, this would be my dream job however I might get sick of eating chocolate for 5 days days a week', don't worry. Mondelez have considered all eventualities and thus these roles are part-time. The Chocolate Tasters will be contracted to work for 8 hours a week to avoid ‘palate fatigue’.
Although no-one needs convincing how great this job sounds, Amanda Greenwood, Chocolate Panellist at the Mondelēz International Wokingham site commented “Like anyone would, I love working as a Chocolate Taster – there is so much more to eating chocolate than you would think. It’s hugely rewarding to play a part in a new product launch, it fills me with pride to see the final product on my local supermarket shelves”.
Until Covid-19 related restrictions are eased (thus allowing Chocolate Tasters to collaborate together in the company's chocolate labs) the roles will involve collecting chocolate samples at the Wokingham, England HQ, tasting them at home and remotely providing feedback. All of which sounds like one of the coolest jobs ever to us.
