As big fans of Scotland, this dream job vacancy sounds pretty cool to us! Brown & Co Rural recently announced in a Facebook post that they were in the process of helping Penninghame Estate recruit for a “Self-Catering Administrator and Housekeeper Role”. The vacancy has been created by the estate owners' decision to operate the property's 7 self-catering units as vacation lets.
In addition to looking after every aspect of the properties once they are up and running, you will also be involved in the initial set-up and marketing of them too. This will give you a great opportunity to 'own' the process and, in essence, operate your own mini start-up (albeit without the financial risk).
Set adjacent to the Galloway Forest Park, the estate is four miles from Newton Stewart, a small town in Dumfries & Galloway – so although you'll be in a rural setting, all essential shops and services are within easy reach.
Requirements for the role include previous experience of managing or running a small business, good IT and social media skills and a true passion for the Scottish environment. Whilst we acknowledge that the first requirement in that list might preclude some readers from applying, we do know that many people have been involved in running small businesses and thus the role should still appeal to a wide range of dream job seekers.
